Specialisation:
Materials technology, focussing, with the benefit of 18-years’ previous experience practising patent law in England, on interpreting common law doctrines to civil law clients and colleagues, and counselling clients in common law countries on patent issues in Europe and at the EPO. Particular experience with medical devices. EPO prosecution, opposition and appeals.

Career:
1969 - 73: 4-year first-degree course at St. Edmund Hall, Oxford University (3 years to Final, followed by one year research within a steel company). 1973: joined a London patent law firm. 1975-78: UK Government in-house patent law group within Defence Ministry. 1978 - 91: in private practice in London and in Milton Keynes including counselling defence and aerospace clients, qualifying in 1979 as British and European Patent Attorney. Based since 1991 in Munich with Hoffmann · Eitle.
Personal:
Married, no children. Leisure interests include Unimogs, gritstone edges and Scottish country dancing.
