Career:
Dissertation work in an interdisciplinary field of materials science and neuroscience performed at Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics laboratory (JHU-APL), the National Institute of Health, the Food and Drug Administration and the Naval Research Laboratory (Washington, DC). Received Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University (MD/USA) in 1994. Post-doctoral scientist at Max-Plank Institute in Mainz (1994). Continued research in the same field at the Institute for Physical and Chemical Research (RIKEN) and JHU-APL with research grants from Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, and U.S. Department of Defense (1995-2000). Author of a number of publications in the area of neuroscience and biomaterials.
Entered patent practice with a patent law firm in Tokyo (2000-2004). Studied Intellectual Property Law at Franklin Pierce Law Center in NH/USA (JD, 2007). Summer associate/intern positions with law firms in Washington, DC and Munich. Passed the U.S. Patent Bar Examination in 2007. With Hoffmann ยท Eitle since 2007.

Leisure interests include Japanese marshal arts, European classical music and the American shorthair cat.
