The London Agreement has retroactively entered into force in Germany as of 1 May 2008.
On 11 July 2008, the German Law for the Improvement of the Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights was published in the Federal Law Gazette. This law implements the Directive 2004/48/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 29 April 2004 on the Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights ("Enforcement Directive"). While the law as a whole enters into force on 1 September 2008, Articles 8a and 8b relating to the London Agreement are effective retroactively as of 1 May 2008.
