Electrical Engineering & Information Technology
The electrical engineering and information technology group, established by the previous senior partner Bernhard von Fischern (now retired), comprises two strong teams in our Munich office (Head of Department: Rainer Zangs) and in our London Office (Head of Department: Stephen Avery).
Following considerable expansion of the group in the nineties (now 7 partners and 12 associates), Hoffmann · Eitle now represents a number of major Fortune 500 IT companies. These companies also account for a considerable share of the new applications filed by our firm. In parallel to extensively advising clients during examination and opposition proceedings, the group's litigation work and licensing activities have steeply increased over the past ten years when many clients in the electrical field started to actively exploit and enforce their IP portfolios. The technology handled ranges from simple circuitry and electronics inventions to complex topics such as telecommunications, computers and software-based inventions.
The group members have broadened the technical and legal know-how they gained during university or doctorate studies by practical research and development activities both in Germany and abroad. The group is well known not only for its highly professional skills but also for providing service to its clients in a very personal and friendly manner. Clients include major international corporations as well as small and medium sized enterprises, mainly from JP, USA, UK, DE, IT and SE.
