Specialisation
Main area of work concerns patents in the chemical and pharmaceutical fields, principally opposition and appeal proceedings before the European and German Patent Offices and the Federal Patent Court, opinion work, patent prosecution and litigation, both cross-border and national, as well as employed inventor’s law. Particular expertise in fine chemicals, pharmaceuticals, photochemistry, polymers and organometallic chemistry. Litigation experience in various technical fields, including printing plates, coffee pads, coatings, polymer processing and pharmaceuticals (e.g. omeprazole, tamsulosin, sildenafil, latanoprost, botulinum toxin, alendronate).

Various publications on questions of patent law and employed inventor’s law. European correspondent of "Patents & Licensing".

Career
Studied chemistry at Rheinisch Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen (1986-1990). Diploma and doctoral theses at the Max Planck Institut für Kohlenforschung Mülheim an der Ruhr (1991-1993). Practical experience with the synthesis and characterisation of organic compounds and in particular organometallic chemistry. Scholarships from the Max-Planck-Society, the Studiengesellschaft Kohle mbH and from the Chemical Industry Foundation. With Hoffmann · Eitle since 1994. German and European Patent Attorney since 1998. Co-leader of the chemistry group since 2009.
Personal Information
Two children. Leisure interests include painting and jazz music.
