Translations
It is of vital importance in the sensitive field of intellectual property law that clients are able to understand exactly what is occurring during the various stages of prosecution of IP rights and during litigation, as well as to fully understand all foreign-language documents. Hoffmann · Eitle therefore provides its clients with these important translations. Since a translation should always provide an exact replication of the original and since this is very difficult to achieve in intellectual property law, Hoffmann · Eitle began many years ago to train its own in-house translators so that the firm would always be able to provide the best possible IP translations. The translation department presently includes five highly trained, university educated translators, some of whom are native
English speakers and all of whom have had many years of experience in translating IP documents. The department is not, however, limited to translating English and German. It can also translate documents from other major languages, such as Japanese, French or Russian. As Hoffmann · Eitle is often called upon to provide a client with a translation from or into other world languages, the firm has over the years established a pool of freelance translators who are just as reliable and well-trained as our in-house translators. To ensure that the same terminology is consistently used, a glossary of the legal terms used in IP law has been compiled, a unique achievement, as it is quite often extremely difficult or even impossible to find the correct translations for IP terminology.
