Bianca-Lucia Vos, a partner in HOFFMANN EITLE’s Chemistry practice group, is a German and European patent attorney and an expert in supplementary protection certificates (SPCs).

Since joining the patent profession in 2003, she has gained extensive experience in the prosecution of patents in examination and opposition/appeal proceedings before the EPO. Bianca has also been involved in nullity proceedings before the German Federal Patent Court. She specializes in the prosecution of SPCs and is responsible for advising clients on their SPC strategy, including the filing strategy for the underlying patent. Bianca also coordinates the international filing of SPC applications for biopharmaceuticals and drugs containing chemical compounds, as well as examination and appeal proceedings before national courts and patent offices and in Europe and countries outside the EU. She regularly gives lectures on the development of case law regarding SPC matters and has been invited to deliver lectures on SPC topics in Europe, the US and Japan.

Clients value Bianca’s vast SPC expertise, her pragmatic view and strategic thinking.

Before joining HOFFMANN EITLE in 2003, Bianca worked as a consultant for McKinsey & Company (2002 to 2003). After studying chemistry at Universität Bielefeld (1992-1994 and 1995-1998), Université Pierre et Marie Curie and Université de Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines (1994-1995), she studied for her doctorate at the Max-Planck Institute for Biochemistry in Martinsried (Munich) under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Oesterhelt (1998-2002). She did her diploma thesis in the field of physical chemistry, and worked in the lab of Prof. Sécheresse in the field of inorganic chemistry during her stay in France.

Bianca spends her spare time with her family and enjoys hiking in the Alps.
