A straight-talking team player

Andreas Stefferl is a partner in HOFFMANN EITLE’s Biotechnology practice group. He gained his scientific spurs at the University of Vienna (Austria), University of Manchester (UK) and the Max Planck Institute for Neurobiology and Psychiatry (Germany). After obtaining his PhD in the field of neuroimmunology, Andreas acquired business insights as a research analyst at a rating agency and as an investment manager at a venture capital firm specialized on biotech startup companies.

Andreas is qualified as a German and European Patent Attorney since 2007. His European qualification comes to fruition in supervising EPO prosecution and portfolio management, as well as in leading contested proceedings before the EPO. His national qualification is the foundation for Andreas’ litigation activities before the German courts in nullity and infringement proceedings and his participation in international litigation teams. His cases span a wide field of biotechnological inventions, with a focus on antibodies, stem cell biology and fermentative production methods of fine chemicals.

Whilst being outspoken about his views, Andreas enjoys working in larger teams, oftentimes bridging the cultural and legal diversity across different continents. His main client base is European and Japanese.

As a past-time, Andreas likes to spend time on the water sailing, or in his garden.
