Helge Paetzold’s activities are directed at the diverse technical fields of the “Mechanical Engineering practice group" both in low tech and in high tech. His main focus is on various technologies in the medical field, but he is also familiar with other areas, such as semiconductor manufacturing and textile machinery, and is always open to something new. He is engaged in seeking protection for his clients' inventions by looking at them from different perspectives in a way that is economically valuable for them. He accompanies these ideas first-hand, starting with drafting, throughout world-wide examination proceedings, up to the grant of a patent. He also provides ongoing advice, including representation in conflict situations before the German Patent and Trademark Office and the European Patent Office.

Before starting at HOFFMANN EITLE in 2010, Helge pursued his enthusiasm for technology and its interaction with other fields by studying mechanical engineering. While studying, he always liked to take opportunities to diversify his thinking at the Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg, with a scholarship at the University of Waterloo in Canada and during research stays in Switzerland. As part of his doctoral thesis, he worked in a team with other engineers, microbiologists, chemists and physicians on the biomechanical development of cultured articular cartilage and supervised various research projects.
