Advice that matters

Adam Lai-Chieh Wan is a German attorney-at-law focused on contentious and non-contentious trademark and design right matters. Other areas of expertise include unfair competition law and geographical indications law. A deep understanding of commercial interests helps him achieve the best possible results for his clients. Part of this understanding is rooted in his keen interest in the influence of modern IT tools on legal work, and in how to use these tools to improve work efficiency for his clients.

Adam has experience with cooperation with market research institutes in connection with non-registered and inherently non-registrable trademarks. Further, he has successfully coordinated several multi-jurisdictional trademark projects. Adam regularly drafts precise Design filing strategies and Design FTOs for his clients.

His family background and the time spent at the Nanjing Normal University help him understand the differences in mentality in work involving Chinese undertakings. Adam has experience with enforcing trademarks in China, including cases of trademark piracy. Leaders League comments on his “extensive knowledge of Chinese IP law”.

After passing the Second Juridical State Examination in 2014, Adam decided to further deepen his expertise in IP law by joining the LL.M. Programme on European and International Economic Law at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich, with a focus on soft IP studies.

In his spare time, Adam enjoys taking long strolls through one of Munich’s many beautiful neighborhoods.
