Laurin Kappei is an attorney in our patent litigation and licensing practice group. He studied law at the Universities of Bayreuth and Münster before completing his legal clerkship in the district of the Higher Regional Court of Düsseldorf. He subsequently obtained an LL.M. in European Intellectual Property Law from Stockholm University, which deepened his interest in international and European patent law. His studies there focused in particular on the legal framework of the newly established Unified Patent Court and the European patent system.
Laurin advises and represents clients in the field of intellectual property before national courts as well as the Unified Patent Court. His practice centers on litigation and strategic patent counseling, including at the intersection with competition and antitrust law (SEP/FRAND), with a particular focus on the mechanical and telecommunications sectors.
In addition to German, he is fluent in English.
Outside the office, he is an avid hockey player.
