Using her technical expertise, Leona Cook focuses on the core idea of her clients’ inventions while finding a solution to the respective case. Working with industrial and academic clients from various fields including pharmaceuticals, polymer materials and energy storage, she specializes in prosecution and opposition proceedings, patent drafting and freedom-to-operate analyses. Moreover, Leona is proficient at advising clients concerning supplementary protection certificates and drafting the respective applications.
Prior to joining HOFFMANN EITLE, Leona studied chemistry at the University of Hamburg and the University of Southampton, acquiring her technical expertise in the fields of organic and medicinal chemistry, biochemistry, catalysis and materials chemistry. During her doctoral degree in the field of organic chemistry, Leona focused on natural product synthesis and transition metal catalysis. Multiple research publications in scientific journals resulted from her Master’s and doctoral degrees.
In her spare time, Leona enjoys being in the alps, especially by going hiking, climbing or motorbiking.
