Zoe Heckhausen is a member of the Biotechnology practice group at HOFFMANN EITLE and is currently training to qualify as a German and European Patent Attorney. With a background in molecular biology, she brings a strong technical foundation in cell culture, gene regulation, and a broad range of biochemical techniques.
Her work focuses on patent prosecution and the drafting of patent applications before the European Patent Office (EPO). She collaborates with and advises a diverse range of clients from industry and academia across Asia, the United States, and Europe.
Zoe studied Biological Natural Sciences (MSci & BA) at the University of Cambridge, where she specialised in Biochemistry. She subsequently gained hands-on laboratory experience in Copenhagen before pursuing a PhD at Imperial College London, focusing on epigenetic modifications in mouse embryonic stem cells.
Prior to joining HOFFMANN EITLE, Zoe worked at a biotechnology start-up in Berlin, where she developed a strong appreciation for the role of intellectual property in commercial decision-making.
