Experienced process engineer with a passion for intellectual property

As a German and European Patent Attorney, Felix Jacob is part of the Mechanics practice group at HOFFMANN EITLE. He represents clients in examination and opposition proceedings before the German Patent and Trade Mark Office and the European Patent Office, as well as in appeal proceedings before the Boards of Appeal of the European Patent Office. His work also includes drafting patent applications, conducting freedom-to-operate and validity analyses, and handling patent litigation matters.

A particular focus of his practice is the strategic development and expansion of extensive international patent portfolios. Felix combines the prosecution of individual patents with an overarching strategy aligned with clients’ technical developments, relevant markets and business objectives.

His technical expertise covers mechanical and plant engineering as well as process engineering, in particular filling and packaging technology, apparatus engineering, process automation and bioprocess engineering for food and beverages. He is especially familiar with inventions at the interface between manufacturing processes and plant technology.

Felix studied Brewing and Beverage Technology at the Technical University of Munich and received his doctorate from the Faculty of Process Sciences at the Technical University of Berlin, with a thesis on the sustainable processing of by-products from the brewing process. Before joining HOFFMANN EITLE, he spent several years in research and consulting at an internationally leading company in the beverage and food industry. This experience shapes his practical understanding of industrial innovation. He is the author of numerous scientific publications.
