A passion for innovation

A trainee in HOFFMANN EITLE’s Biotech practice group, Andres Gonzalez is involved in the drafting, prosecution, and litigation of European patents. His work extends to most areas of life science IP – with experience in cases relating to gene therapies, vaccines, diagnostic devices, and food technology.

Prior to joining the firm, Andres read Natural Sciences at Cambridge, graduating with a PhD in 2022. During his undergraduate, he joined the herculean task of synthesing the first fully recoded genome in E. coli, while his PhD focussed on solving the first cryo-EM structure of cohesin. As a result, he is a published author with entries in prestigious scientific journals, such as Nature, Nature Microbiology, and Elife.

Born in Germany, raised in Spain, and educated in the UK, Andres enjoys advising clients from a range of cultural backgrounds and jurisdictions, with a particular emphasis on the United States, Europe, and Japan.

Outside of work, Andres regularly pursues his interests in cinema and painting. He is also an avid football supporter and an acceptable player.
